Crowcombe Estate Pork
Woodland reared
Crowcombe Estate pigs are raised free to roam in a woodland environment.
They forage naturally for acorns, roots, seeds and insects – rooting, exploring and socialising, which benefits their curious nature.
We breed Tamworth cross Large Black pigs, two traditional native breeds on the UK’s rare breeds list. The Tamworth’s long snout and dished face make it a natural forager, while the Large Black’s hardy, docile temperament suits outdoor woodland life perfectly.
Their diet is supplemented with spent brewers’ grain from local Black Bear Brewery, a brewing byproduct, reducing the carbon footprint of our pork, putting waste to good use. Their varied, natural diet gives the meat its distinctively dark, rich flavour.
Our pigs are raised outdoors on a healthy diet that includes woodland foraging. Their ability to roam along with a varied, natural diet gives the meat its distinctively dark, rich flavour.
Our pork is sold in packs of the cuts that make up either a ‘half pig’ or a ‘whole pig’.
Unless preordered and delivered fresh to your door on the day we receive them from our local butcher, the cuts are freshly frozen.
